Disc Springs according to DIN 2093

Disc spring washers are manufactured under strict quality control to conform to DIN 2093 load characteristics. Disc springs in this range are especially suited for high loads in small spaces. By combining them in varying sequence, each size gives numerous load-carrying possibilities. It has to be taken into account that when compressing the springs, the inside diameter becomes smaller and the outside diameter bigger. Stress calculations are conform to DIN 2092.

 

Disc springs allow the construction of so-called ''disc columns" using different methods of combination and/or structure. Spring characteristics are influenced by the way of combination. " spring columns" are used in order to amplify the relatively small movement (B) of one single spring under compression or in order to induce a very strong force while keeping the movement smalle (A). The examples shows different ways of combination.



 

During compression, a decrease of the internal diameter (di) and an increase of the external diameter (du) must be considered. Alternating combination in a spring column results in a total force which is the same as that one of a single spring. If the springs are combined by fitting one spring into the other, the resulting force amounts to the sum of all individual forces.

 

Positions marked with * are imported from the USA. Their dimension is given in the unit "inch". Springs marked R are made of stainless steel. Their Prices are higher than those of other items. All prices are available upon request. Deviating sizes and materials are available upon request.

 

It is also possible to set discsprings together of different thicknesses of material.  The result is a column spring having a progressive path / power characteristic.

 

To ensure a smooth conduction must be sufficient clearance (Sp) between the shaft and Di, or between the bus and Du applied, which according to DIN 2093, the following values apply:

 >140     -            250   mm   Sp = 1.6 mm  

 


Disc springs have the following advantages:

  • There may be very high spring forces generated in a small space by the shape and by the material of a discspring.
  • Disc springs can be manufactured with a linear or a progressive or degressive spring characteristic.
  • There can be a long lifespan obtained by dynamic load, provided that they are correctly dimensioned.

 

 

Norms:

Our disc springs are calculated according to DIN 2092 and are produced according to the measurements, tolerances and quality requirements which are descripted in DIN 2093.

The discsprings can be produced in different materials (depending on thickness and size of the discsprings.) These items may not all be in stock. Ask us for the possibilities.

US- Standard disc springs (Amercain disc springs)


US-Standard belleville discsprings are designed for high loads in small spaces. They are available in commercial quality springs steel SAE-C1074 according to ASTM-A684 and stainless spring steel type 17-PH according to ASTM-5528 (from 1.83 mm) and type 302 Mil.spec. 5059 (till 1,83mm) according to ASTM norms.


The compression length of a single disc spring is relatively small. Therefore it is usually necessary to combine a number of disc springs. By stacking disc springs the compression lenght will increase. Stacked disc springs are typically used in a bus or an axis. With dynamic load conductors are needed which have a minimum load of 48 Rockwell C. You can also use endplates to avoid that the adjoining ends abrate.

 

The tolerances on the US belleville disc springs are significantly different than that of the disc springs according to DIN 2093.
